Ryan 4 Months

I can't believe my baby isn't a newborn anymore :-( I guess he wasn't a newborn last month, but 3 months still feels so little. And now he's soooo aware of everything around him he just seems so much older! Here's what Ryan is up to this month:

  • Still a big talker! He has what we like to call the pterodactyl voice ;-) At his 4 month well check the nurse said he was one of the most talkative 4 month olds she can remember, haha!
  • He's been really into Russ playing guitar to him. On the weekends this has become our go to sleep solution, Ryan in swing and Russ playing the guitar for him, works 90% of the time :-)
  • He's still anti-bottle :-( But a couple weeks ago we discovered he does decent with milk in a medicine dropper. He'll eat up to 8 oz that way and those extra couple ounces have helped make the evenings of the days I work much better (i.e. I get more breaks from Ryan's nurse-a-thon and he'll go to sleep earlier)
  • He tried rice cereal for the first time on Friday. With Megan we waited until 6 months to try solid food, but since Ryan doesn't take much milk while I'm at work and he has great head control the pediatrician said we should go ahead and try it. Well... Ryan did great with it! On his first feeding of it he ate a couple spoonfuls and then after I left for work he had a bunch more!
  • We got out the exersaucer last week and he does really well in it. We add a blanket around his chest / waist since he's still pretty small but he loves to play with the toys from the standing up position
  • He's grabbing and holding onto his toes! I love the toe grabbing it's just sooo cute! When he's on his back he has his feet up in the air most of the time and he'll roll to the side that way too (but not over). He also grabs and holds onto toys, and of course loves to bring them to his mouth! He sucks on his elephant blanket a lot and his fingers and any other toy he grabs. On his play mat he reaches for and grabs the toys hanging, and he seems to enjoy just laying their grabbing at stuff.
  • At his 4 month appointment he was 14.4lbs (55%) 25.5"(75%) and his head was 10%, overall great and I was thrilled to see he went from 50th percentile to 55th percentile on weight from his 2 month appt, I was worried with me going back to work and him not drinking a lot while I was gone that he might drop a bit... but apparently he's making up for it in the evenings and nights...

Here's both the kids, Megan LOVES to play pretend sleep in our bed and always request Ryan "sleep" next to her. Ryan seems to like it a lot too. He smiles at Megan a lot now especially when she smiles at him, so cute!

In Rememberence

I miss you so much Grandpa. You're loved and remembered by so many of us and you'll live on with us and our memories. I love this picture of you and Grandma holding Megan the first time you met her. It's amazing to me how much she knew you and loved her Grammy and Papa even though we live so far apart. Love you and miss you, Michelle

Happy Birthday Megan!

Megan turned 2 last Monday (2/8)! Her Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Jay were here to visit and celebrate with us. We had a party at Gymboree on Saturday which was such a blast! Megan LOVED it! She had this shy/cute smile at all the attention but you could tell she was just tickled to have everyone sing happy birthday to her!

Megan seems to be changing so fast these days! She's already talking in 3 and sometimes 4 word sentences! Things like "Mommy eat food" and "Megan ride [in] new car"...

She sings songs, sometimes she just hums the tune with a few words, like "No Monkeys Jumping on the bed", the ABC's...

She can now ride her tricycle and even pedal up a slight incline!

Her favorite foods are macaroni & cheese, watermelon, scrambled eggs, fish sticks, pickles, yogurt covered raisins and any type of junk food / sweets that she can get her hands on!

At her 2 year well check she did GREAT! The last couple checkups have been really hard, Megan would cry the minute the nurse / Dr. came in and scream /cry though everything (even getting on the scale!), she was just really really afraid. But this time she did great! She was definitely nervous but she got to go out in the hall and get weighed and measured on the big girl stuff and she liked that a lot! And the rest of the exam she did on my lap and while she was nervous she did great! She had to get one shot and did cry when that happened but it was over fast and she stop crying soon after. Yaaaayyyy!

She's 34.75" (75th percentile) and 24.4lbs (20th percentile)

Her new favorite song is Michael Buble's "Just Haven't Met You Yet"and she loves to spin around and around to it, or dance around the table :-) She can even say "Michael Buble"!

Cake at Gymboree! Megan was sooo excited for cake :-)

Having fun at her party!

Ryan had fun too!

Cake again on Monday (her real bday), she had the cutest shy/happy smile while we sang it her!

With Grandma and Grandpa!

Happy Valentines Day!
